The name “Mast” is an acronym of Multichrome Antibiotic Susceptibility Test. Our name still stands for our what company produces today alongside a wide range of diagnostic products.

Mast Group was founded in 1959 by John Oliver. The company has since passed from generation to generation and is to this day still owned by the Oliver family.

Mast Group has evolved over the past 7 decades of business – from a small office in Liverpool to now a multinational company in the UK, France, Germany and South Africia.

John Oliver led the way by being a pioneer of the AST disc which was ground-breaking in 1957. With Mast Group being one of the first to commercialise the discs. AST discs remain a core product to our business to this day with our product portfolio rapidly expanding to fit the IVDR market.
